Broadway Methodist Church

To the Glory of God

Since its official opening in January the £1 million community project has hosted an array of activities and seen man people getting involved with church life.

The Methodist people have a long tradition and history  in this part of the Potteries. The congregations had three buildings that housed many memories, which they held dear, but they were willing to let them go in order to build a new church that could serve the community.

The new church, in Pickford Place, has purpose built rooms for community activities with foldaway walls, improved catering and toilet facilities and is fully wheelchair accessible.

The congregation's view: "It's a purpose built facility that's meant to be more  than a church; we realised our work was to reach the community."

We run a mother and toddler group, Broadway Busy Bees. The group meets every Thursday during term times from 10am until 11.30am.

There is an after school group that takes place on the second Wednesday of each month, called Make'n'Munch.  Children can play games and take part in Bible-themed craft activities while parents enjoy a cup of tea. There is then an informal talk connecting a Bible story to what the children have made. Then we eat together!

Young at Heart meets every Tuesday at 2pm to play games, drink coffee and tea and relax together.  It is intended for pensioners - all would find a welcome!

We are serving a hot lunch every Wednesday between 12 and 1.

The church is open for coffee and tea every Tuesday morning between 10 and 12.

The church also runs two women's groups on Wednesdays at 2:30pm and 7:30pm, a youth group on Sunday evenings at 7:45pm, Boys Brigade, Guides, Brownies and Rainbows.

The congregation's hard work has made an impression.

Rev Andrew Baker  said: "They all had to be sacrificial in their giving and their fund-raising projects and last year they completed the project debt free."

We praise God for all that is past and trust God for all that is to come.
